First established as a Società a Responsabilità
Limitata (Limited Company) in the city of Cremona back in
June 1996, Icona was converted into a Società per
Azioni (Public Limited Company) in 1998 and its capital
is still in the hands of its original shareholders, all
directly involved in the running of the company.
After a year working on designing the first Italian portals,
1998 was the key year in the firm’s business strategy. It
was in October of that year that Icona released
C6
for Seat/Tin, the first Instant Messaging service based
on our OFS
software framework allowing customers to personally control
their own user database.
The following year marked a real breakthrough for our company
with its newly developed Instant Communication service,
which turned into the focus of its attention; the OFS platform
became a sort of benchmark for Instant Messaging in Italy
and elsewhere; the year 2000 saw the
Talk Talk
project for Tiscali,
LeChat
for the French company 9Telecom,
Liberi Tutti
for Infostrada, and
kwMessenger
for Kataweb.
Some of these applications have been translated into different
languages for other countries. In June that year Icona launched
Livecare
, one of the very first ASP services on the Italian market,
directing OFS
towards the business sector through a Web Call Center.
Our company has continued to grow during the years, both financially
and in terms of the services it offers, so that the market
now perceives it as a reliable strategic partner for know-how
related to Instant Communication.
The new millennium has begun with a real boom in business
for our company, as we are exploiting our internal resources,
investments over the coming months, and new, prestigious
services to consolidate and boost our leading design position
on the Italian and European markets.
