OFS solution - 12th January 2001
Milan, 12th January 2001 - Icona will be presenting a demo, based
on the OFS framework, of a Real Time News Broadcasting service
at eBusiness 2001.
Tuned into continuing market demands, Icona will soon be providing
an SDK capable of interfacing with our OFS framework; this will
allow us, and third parties as well, to create exclusive Agents
to produce custom services for instantly controlling targeted
contents for every user based on personal profiles; Real Time
News Broadcasting will be among the services that can be set up
with special agents.
OFS, the very hub of our company, will thereby gain a further
distinctive feature on the world Instant Messaging scene.
The OFS platform will make it possible to provide the fullest
range of services and applications for the world of digital interaction
on the Internet.
The above-mentioned features make OFS an ideal software layer
for developing all kinds of on-line services; chat lines, instant
messaging, real-time news broadcasting, wireless handling, instant
auctioning, web call center, on-line training and Web experts
are just some of the facilities supported by the platform.
Moreover, bearing in mind that clients are all devices with their
own IP addresses, the range of potential applications extends
from PCs (Windows, Mac) to mobile phones (Wap, GPRS, Umts) and
even palm computers.
OFS allows firms to take instant advantage of the potential offered
by Internet users; our design model means we can quickly release
a tailored application so as to provide and present services and
contents customised to various users profiles.
Here is a more detailed look at some of the applications of the
OFS framework:
Buddy List (Presence Awareness)
Instant Messaging
Peer-to-Peer
File Transfer
Audio/Video chat
Multichat
Audio/Video Conferencing
Real Time News Broadcasting
Offline Messaging
Browser and Banner/Ad Servers integration
InterServer Communication
Protocol integration

eBusiness 2001 - 11th January 2001
Milan, 11th January 2001 - Icona, a leading Instant Communication
provider, will be taking part with Sun Microsystems at eBusiness
2001, the first international event dedicated to the world of
eBusiness to be held at the Milan Trade Fair from 18th-20th January.
Icona will be using this new showcase of e-business and computer
security-related problems to demonstrate the versatility and security
of its own OFS environment (Online Framework Solution). OFS can
be used to provide lots of Instant Communication services that
draw on presence awareness to allow communication
between users and supply information in real-time.
The all-modular OFS framework allows quick peer-to-peer type on-line
communication (for direct exchanges of Text Messages, File Transfers,
Audio/Video and co-Browsing between users of the same system),
by means of different client technologies (Win32, Java, Wml/Wap,
WinCE, PalmOS) and by setting up innovative Internet services
(Buddy List, Instant Messaging, Offline messaging, Multichat,
Conferencing, File Sharing/Swapping, Real Time News Broadcasting)
providing the most prestigious portals with services for offering
to their own clients. Built using Sun/Solaris architecture, OFS
offers performance, security, and scalability to anyone interested
in acquiring it. Icona has devised a special protocol called OFS
ICPP to ensure all the information moving between client and server
is kept private and not intercepted. Light in terms of operating
overheads to guarantee almost no impact on system performance,
OFS ICPP implements its own internal software mechanism to camouflage
data and make information spoofing more difficult.
At eBusiness 2001, Icona will be presenting a demo, based on the
OFS framework, of a Real Time News Broadcasting application, illustrating
OFSs new SDK, which will allow exclusive Agents to be set
up for custom applications instantly controlling targeted contents
for each user based on personal profiles, as well as the beta
of Livecares new 3.0 release, whose most innovative features
will be the introduction of a Contact Center module
for handling Web contacts and the opening of three more communication
channels (Audio/Video, e-Mail and Call-me-Back) to back up the
conventional chat line.
Two fine examples of OFS applications will be on display inside
an exhibition totem; visitors will actually get the chance to
try out the latest two company services: kwMessenger for the Kataweb
portal and Livecare for the Zivago portal.
